My English teacher asked my class to write an invitation poem for our poetry book so i wanted to see what people thought. For those of you who don't know what and invitation poem is I'll tell you. An invitation poem is a poem that you sometimes see at the begging of a poetry book it's supposed to invite you to look at the poetry you wrote but it also displays a preview of what you've written. just so you know i heard it was a little melodramatic but it's my first try at this so sorry. Please critique!!
Come and see my world
That which is from a diffrent girl
A girl you haven't seen only heard
Come and enter her world
See what she sees
Come in
and learn
What the definition of poetry is?
What a father is?
What a best friend is?
Please come in
and hear my words
Those of which none have heard
Read and you'll see in your mind
The image of a quiet cheerful girl
Who suddenly died
Listen closely
And you'll hear
What love really is
Come and see in my mind
All the things you never tried to see
All the things you never heard
Come in to my world which you never thought to do
Enter my mind and see the real me

In the poetry book my class is making there is a poem where a girl suddenly dies but I'm thinking about changing that part.
Read and you'll see in your mind
The image of a quiet cheerful girl
Who suddenly died
This is a really good poem. It flows well, and has a nice rhythm. However, unless there is a poem in this book that is about a girl who suddenly died, I don't think that that that stanza should be in there.
